Queen of the Faeries
In the midnight blue of a starry night
We wound down a mossy path,
White blooms strung like lanterns
guiding the way
The scent of hyacinth and jasmine
dancing round our nose as the soft
melody of crickets and tree frogs
serenaded the wood
In the distance laps of water
rush a barren lake shore.
To be alone in such a realm
felt like trespassing, or a dream
Between a hush and a whisper
we heard a lady speak,
Dream a little Dream, she said
Dream a little Dream? We asked
Then there in her bower
surrounded by flowers
she appeared, fair of face
radiating grace…
The Queen of the Faeries
Was this sheer luck or fate?
Her slow smile assured us it
was meant to be
With a wave of her cerulean sleeve
she called us in closer
and asked if we cared to
join her race
Without hesitation we agreed
for in truth we had spent
1000 years lost among humans,
longing for this day.
