“Sol wait,” Irma settled in on the sofa beside him, “before you begin telling me about your time with the Sphinx I have to ask you something. Just how did you get to all these amazing places? I mean Hollywood, Budapest, Hong Kong, Ireland and now Egypt? You’ve been all over the world! How does a little cat travel so far?”
Sol knew this question was coming, and already had his pat answer prepared,
“I always get to where I’m going by walking away from where
I have been.”
Irma saw the look on his face and the tone he was taking and decided not to push the subject.
“Well I do suppose for your sake Irma I will be kind enough to start at the very beginning. I was born a poor farm cat in Apple Valley California. The Farmer’s wife was a cat lover and found two stray orange cats, My dear Mother Fiona and Father Pippin. I was the runt of their first and only litter. Favoring the cream resemblance of my Mum and having to grow in to the stripes of my dear old Dad. I had one brother, Tobias, he was a bright orange stripey fellow, quite the bully and an adept hunter. Made old Dad quite proud. My favorite sister was Calliope. I could not keep my little white mitts off her, we were constantly tumbling down the stairs and wrestling for a laugh. Then my other two sisters were Penelope and Phoebe, poor “Feebs” as I called her, was run over by a motor bike before she turned one. And Penny was sent to live with Aunt Karen for peeing on all the furniture. So the rest of us were farm bound, that is until one day when I was nearly two I’d wandered a ways chasing a mouse and ended up at the edge of the road. Before I knew it I was scooped up by a blonde lady who hopped out of her sports car squealing “Oh you poor poor kitty you will get hit out here!!”
Turns out she was called Princess Irene, not a real Princess but a Magician’s wife who owned a big big Castle in Hollywood, The Magic Castle. She was a huge animal advocate and decided that day I needed saving so it was off to the Castle I went to live with that illustrious group of Magicians, for the next six years of my life.”
“Are you awake Irma?” Irma had closed her eyes only for a second.
“Well it is nearly Noon, I will have to tell you the rest of this long story tomorrow anyway,” Sol sneered. “Time for me to go silent and take a nap.”
To be continued.

Haha very clever use of apples and oranges. Sol has an interesting backstory, it isn’t what I would have guessed. Bravo

Poor Sol, nobody listens. lol I hope he stiffens up his whiskers and keeps talking. Nothing like a Tomcat to keep things interesting. Till the next one, fun little write.
