“You’re referring to ‘What Is and What Should Never Be’ on Led Zeppelin II?” The cowboy was perplexed, he knew that would set off Robert Plant.

“And if I say to you tomorrow

Take my hand, child come with me

It’s to a castle I will take you

Where what’s to be, they say will be…” Crooned Robert.

The Red Queen blushed in delight, in three shades of red. Both these men were starting to use their intuitive gifts. She opened up her cabinet and removed her favorite Christmas spirit, the Macallan 50-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whiskey. Just a wee taste to toast embarking on this quest.

“I did my best, it wasn’t much

I couldn’t feel so I learned to touch

I’ve told the truth, I didn’t come all this way to fool you

Yeah and even though it all went wrong

I’ll stand right here before the Lord of Song

With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah…” Softly sung, the Cowboy sipped again.

“Hallelujah and some bloody fine Macallan on that silver tongue, ya daft Colonial.” Laughed Robert. “And I tell you true. ‘What Is and What Should Never Be’ IS 90% my work, my first credited work on Led Zeppelin.”

The Red Queen acted quickly, she had heard this tirade several times before. “Merlin’s Cave in Tintagel and Tintagel Castle awaits. Gentlemen, let’s be off.”

“Ah, wait. I am not so sure that Hogmanay is the best time to be departing The Highlands for Cornwall, what with all the Christmas Spirit lingering and the hustle and bustle of all that festive energy.”

The Cowboy had already gathered his rucksack, “Well maybe we can take a sleigh ride down there?”

Robert chimed in, “Just hear those sleigh bells jingling, ring tingle tingling too
(Ring-a-ling-a ding-dong-ding!)
Come on, it’s lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you
(Ring-a-ling-a ding-dong-ding!)…”

The Red Queen giggled, imagining such a journey with these two. “Well if we must go now, I think it best to teleport.”

The two very tall gentlemen gave each other a quizzical glance.

“I haven’t used my psychokinesis since that last trip to the Misty Mountains,” Robert quipped, “But I can try.”

The Cowboy was silent, he had never attempted such a form of travel and did not want to admit to his lack of knowledge on the subject.

“Not to worry Gentleman, I have developed a rare tea to do all the work for us.” The Red Queen in her flowing crimson cape stepped up the cauldron over the fire and stirred in a few raw cranberries with the seven ‘sacred’ herbs;  clover, henbane, mistletoe, monkshood, pasque-fiower, primrose and vervain.

Fiery scarlet sparks flew from the pot, and in the dark, her face was rosy from the glow.

As she stirred, she whispered the following words:

Great Christmas Spirit lingering here
Cast us upon your wings of cheer,
Take us three with crystals two
back to the Cave as good as new…
We shall do right by our ancestors
and predecessors…
returning the legacy of Sleeping Queens
and Kings,
To the cave wherein wisdom sings.

Suddenly the liquid rose from the cauldron and in a colorful dance it surrounded all three of them, with swirls and sparks their molecular structures broke down becoming one with the “tea”….and as one liquid they moved through time and space until hovering the Castle above Merlin’s cave. And then ever so gently pixel by pixel and spark by spark their full forms returned in tact on the beach below.
