Ecrits Blogophilia Week 2.14 Topic: The Three Bears
Hard Bonus (2 points): Use a lyric from a Prince song (Admission is easy, just say you believe~ From Paisley Park)
Easy Bonus (1 Point):Mention “paper cranes”
*************************************************
“Psst Goldie, look up, it’s me Thumbelina. Up here on the wall.” Suddenly Goldie’s wall lit up with shadowy figures, fairytale figures. There was the wicked witch and the big bad wolf, and all kinds of birds sitting in a black silhouette of a tree. Long spindly branches grew slowly in spirals reaching out to Goldie.
Goldie was a brave and curious little girl. She put down her bedtime stories and looked up with wonder, “Teddy, it’s magic!”
Suddenly the second bear in a chair replied, “Oh it’s more than magic, it’s the manifestation of pure imagination!”
Goldie giggled and watched with amusement as a third Bear stepped from the shadows, “Do not be afraid Goldie,” he held out his furry black shadow paw. Goldie took hold and just like Wendy on Pixie dust she flew into the wall of pictures and became a fairytale silhouette herself.
Thumbelina spoke again, “Are you ready to join our world Goldie?”
The wolf informed, “Admission is easy, just say you believe.”
“Oh but I do believe, I believe with every ounce of my soul…I believe, I believe, I believe,” she shouted.
Her raised convictions evoked a burst of leaves from the trees, leaves that flew up morphing into a thousand paper cranes. Wings flapping about the wall.
The shadow cranes encircled Goldie as if casting a swirling spell of transformation and Goldie began to change. She was as small as Thumbelina and as agile as the wolf. Together they danced in a ring, swaying to an invisible wind and silenced music.
Goldie was giddy and gleeful, full of hope and promise.
Until footsteps clamored down the hall and her bedroom door
flung open. Her Mother, bursting in, flicked on the overhead light
and in a flash the fantasy was gone.
“Ahh look at her there, sleeping like an Angel,” her Mother whispered,
“Sweet dreams, my little lamb.”
