Playground Conversation: (Somewhere south of London)

Boy: Give me your hand, I’ll help you climb to the top.
Girl: NO, no… I’m afraid of going up.
Boy: But up is fun. Up is good!
Girl: Down is good too. I like down.
Boy: Okay, fine. I’m coming down to you.
Girl: (Smiles and hands Boy a toy shovel to dig in the sand)
Boy: What are you making?
Girl: A castle!
Boy: Can I make a moat?
Girl: (Shrugs) I don’t care. What’s a moat again?
Boy: It’s the circle of water that keeps people out of the castle.
Girl: Right. Then who shall live in the castle if they can’t get in?
Boy: It’s only to keep the baddies out.
Girl: Who are the baddies?
Boy: You ask a lot of questions.
Girl: If you could have three wishes what would they be?
Boy: Ummm, I’d wish for Spiderman powers and…
Girl: No, no. Has to be real things.
Boy: Like what?
Girl: Well, it can’t be a silly Unicorn of many colours or Spiderman stuff.
Boy: Fine. I’d wish for all the money in the world, no bedtime, and sweets, lots of sweets!
Girl: Do you want to know my wishes?
Boy: Go on then.
Girl: I wish I had a Dog. I wish I lived in a real castle. And I wish I knew your name.
Boy: It’s Rusty. What’s yours?
Girl: Lilliana Embeth Pettigrew-Coates. But you can call me Lilith.
Boy: Whoa, that’s a very big name.
Girl: Mummy says the longer the name the more important the person.
Boy: Huh, my name could go longer if I wanted it to.
Girl: How?
Boy: Well they call me Rusty, for my ginger hair. But it’s not my real name.
Girl: Tell me your real name.
Boy: It’s Russell Gerard Theodore Darling Bucket. So I imagine that makes me rather important, then.
Girl: (giggling) Not if you are actually called Rusty Bucket.
