Moths to a Flame

collaborative poem by Christine Wichman and Dave Raider c. May 12, 2014

Moths to a Flame

Cocoon relents

we join the light to play

moths to a flame

guide our way,

lest we stray…

Oh we stray

we sway

and obey

the rhythms

of the moon

and sun

along the bay

Come a little

closer says

the flame to

the moth..

But oh the moon,

how it tempts the moth away…

one turn on the breeze and she’s off,

to live another day.

Luna moth

translucent wings

departs

flame grows dim

a memory

of heat and

light and danger bright.

Fading on the wind, spirit free, soul intact

Luna glances back.

Embers to ash, as fire returns to earth.
